Remove GPS from Photo - Location Off, Camera Data Stays

GPS-only mode: removes location from JPEG EXIF without re-encoding pixels - C2PA/XMP stay intact on JPEG. PNG/WebP fall back to re-encode with GPS stripped from reinserted EXIF.

Delete embedded GPS coordinates from iPhone and camera JPEGs before you post publicly - without wiping Make, Model, lens, and exposure fields.

Browser-only; your file never uploads to our servers.

Why remove GPS but keep EXIF?

Photographers and Etsy sellers often want **camera settings** (Make, Model, lens, ISO) for cataloging - but not **exact coordinates** embedded at capture. Instagram, Facebook, and marketplaces can read GPS from EXIF when users share originals.

This page targets **GPS-only removal** on JPEG. It is narrower than the EXIF cleaner , which strips the full EXIF block including device identity.

What changes in the file

GPS strip vs full metadata remover

The AI metadata remover targets C2PA and AI labels for social uploads. This page is for **privacy location** intent - photographers removing pin drops, not generator provenance.

Need AI tags gone too? Run AI-only or full remover after GPS strip, or use the EXIF cleaner for a one-pass full wipe.

FAQ

Does this remove GPS from iPhone photos?

Yes on JPEG - GPS is removed by editing the EXIF block in place (no pixel re-encode). C2PA and XMP stay intact. iPhone HEIC should use the HEIC metadata remover first (converts to JPG, then strips).

Will Instagram still show my location?

Stripping GPS EXIF removes one file-level location signal. Platform location tags from in-app check-ins are separate from EXIF.

GPS-only vs EXIF cleaner?

GPS-only keeps camera Make/Model and lens fields. EXIF cleaner removes the broader EXIF/GPS block for maximum privacy.

Is GPS removal lossless?

On JPEG, GPS is stripped by editing the EXIF APP1 segment only - no pixel re-encode, so image quality is unchanged (file hash still changes). PNG/WebP are canvas re-encoded at quality 0.95 with GPS removed from reinserted EXIF when present.
